Mankayan, Benguet (Micro-lot)
Every Mankayan Single Origin Coffee cup contains the rich flavor of toffee nuts, cacao, and graham crackers. Each is an exquisite taste of mixed nuts with the citrus flavor of calamansi and molasses.
These beans are sourced from Mankayan, Benguet. The name is from the word “Nankayang,” which means “way up to the eastern mountains,” and it’s used by native traders who would barter among people from lowlands.
Mankayan is a land-rich area of gold and copper, with their primary sources of income being mining and agriculture. In recent years, they have ventured into coffee cultivation as an additional source of income.
And the result of the perfect location? The renowned taste of bright acidity with floral notes— all made possible by Mankayan’s perfect place of high elevation, cold microclimate, and slightly acidic soil!
About Brgy. Balili, Mankayan, Kapi Tako, and Cordillera Green Network (CGN)
The Cordillera Green Network (CGN) is a non-profit organization that promotes environmental protection and empowerment of indigenous communities. Among their beneficiaries are the various producers from Barangay Balili, Mankayan.
Some of their projects include: (1) the agroforestry program supporting sustainable coffee production and reforestation; and (2) initiatives on Arabica seedling distribution, skills training, and capacity development.
To sustain this cause, they have established Kapi Tako, a social enterprise that boosts Fair Trade practices to ensure fair compensation for their partner community.

Social Initiative
Our mission in Yama is to go against unethical practices that have been long rampant in the coffee industry. We’re here to empower farmers, provide them with opportunities to sustain their livelihood, and in turn give you traceable, delicious coffee.
With our aligned goals, we’ve partnered with Cordillera Green Network (CGN) and Kapi Tako to support their advocacy and uplift their project communities to pursue sustainable coffee production, forest restoration, and fair trade.
So, for every purchase of MANKAYAN, 40% of the proceeds go to:
- The sustenance of farmer’s livelihood
- CGN and Kapi Tako’s continuous efforts to aid in the improvement of their beneficiary’s crops through: agroforestry projects, training/workshops, and other projects.
